VIPs sing for the safety of senior VIPs
Children from the charity Eighteen And Under are SINGING FOR SAFETY today (Wednesday) to raise money for personal safety alarms for senior citizens. Whilst running the hugely popular senior Violence is Preventable (VIP) personal safety sessions in various locations in Dundee, Eighteen And Under, the multi-award winning violence prevention campaigners, discovered that many senior citizens worry about possible attacks when they are out and about and would feel safer if they had a personal alarm with them. These simple gadgets allow the user to set off a very loud alarm if they ever find themselves in an unsafe situation, thus alerting anyone in the vicinity that they need help. At £2 each, they’re not very expensive, however the children at Eighteen And Under want to raise as much money as possible to make sure that any senior citizens involved in the VIP sessions can get one absolutely free. So they’ve been asking for sponsorship to SING FOR SAFETY at two senior VIP sessions on Wednesday, at Ardler and Boomerang Stobswell by performing and teaching their own VIP song to the senior VIPs. In return they’re hoping the senior VIP’s will sing one of their own personal safety songs back to them! Laurie Matthew, co-coordinator of Eighteen And Under said, ‘We believe that everyone in our community has the right to feel safe when they are out and about. These simple gadgets give older people peace of mind. When our children heard about them, they jumped at the chance to make sure that all of our senior VIPs feel safe.’ To sponsor the children, or you’re interested in volunteering to run senior VIP sessions, please call 01382 206222.
