Teens workbook YOUTH MATTERS launched

Award winning child protection charity Eighteen And Under launches a new personal safety and abuse prevention workbook for teenagers today (Tuesday) with an event at their centre in Dundee.

The workbook, entitled YOUTH MATTERS, contains dozens of exercises covering themes such as bullying, racism, homophobia, domestic and sexual abuse and sexual exploitation. The exercises can be done individually, or as part of a group and are designed to provoke thought and discussion.

It’s a welcome addition to the multi award winning VIP (Violence Is Preventable) programme which tackles personal safety and abuse prevention for children and young people aged 2 to 18.

Coordinator Laurie Matthew said, ‘We are continually evaluating and developing our VIP Programme and this workbook is one of a series of new resources we are putting together for teenagers who need all the help we can give them to stay safe and look out for each other. It’s an inexpensive photocopyable resource which anyone who works with young people can use over and over again. I’d like to pay tribute to our artist Carol Storrier who did a wonderful job on this completely free of charge.’

The workbook costs £6 and is available from the VIP online shop at www.violenceispreventable.org.uk or by calling 01382 206222.
