Survivors Poetry Book released

Today marks the launch of a new book of poetry written by survivors of ritual and organised abuse. The book came together as a result of writing workshops, for survivors, which were funded by Awards for All and the Scottish Community Foundation.

Tayside Ritual Abuse Support and Help Project (TRASH) organised the workshops and enlisted published author, Laurie Matthew, to oversee them. Survivors came together to express their feelings through writing, raising their self esteem and lessening their feelings of isolation.

Much of their work is prevalent in this new book, entitled ‘The Living Proof’, and they very much hope that it will help to raise awareness of this type of abuse amongst individuals and other agencies.

Survivors of ritual or organised abuse wrote all of the poetry. Carol Storrier designed the cover illustration and the book was edited by Irene Clark.

It is available through VIP Publications and can be ordered via the VIP website, www.violenceispreventable.org.uk or by calling TRASH on 01382 207667
